Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are processed through IIT Delhi’s official international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE or GMAT.
English Proficiency Tests
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Candidates may also submit scores from other recognized language tests.
Selection Process
Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen disciplines. This interview assesses their suitability for advanced study and research.
