IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year .

Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees to submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Standardized Test Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International candidates can also submit scores from tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English Proficiency Tests
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include:

- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination

Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview.
The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process aims to evaluate candidates’ suitability for advanced study and research.
