The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is available on the official IIT Delhi website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Applications will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. This includes candidates holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Eligibility and Testing
Potential PhD and PG students may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
