IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Admission Eligibility and Requirements

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). For international applicants, scores from English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations are mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on academic performance and an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
