Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Details
The application window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 . Prospective students must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English proficiency.
Eligibility and Entrance Exams
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program for PhD and PG admissions. International examination scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Admission Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
