IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications can be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from qualifying examinations. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
The application portal is open for the academic years 2026-27 .
