IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency.

They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters commenting on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, applicants must provide scores from English language proficiency tests.

Accepted English proficiency tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also acceptable.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
