IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Eligibility and Application
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
