IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

English Proficiency Tests

Applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview will evaluate their suitability for the program.
