Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Process
Applicants must submit a statement detailing their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can be national tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE). International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
IIT Delhi will base final admissions on performance in the interview and academic records. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .
