IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will make admission decisions based on candidate performance during an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
