IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details for International Students
The application portal will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Academic and Test Score Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program. International examination scores are also considered. These include results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
