The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
