IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .
Admission Process
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
These referees will be asked to assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Required Scores and Testing
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
