IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Admission Process

Interested candidates must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide a statement on their English proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Indian National Tests: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
  • International Tests: GRE, GMAT.

Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates’ overall aptitude and potential for research.
