IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . This applies to admissions for the 2026-27 academic year.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
