IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Eligibility and Requirements

The application is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their English language skills.

The application process requires candidates to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to official notifications.

Academic and Test Score Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include India’s Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also listed.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with a strong academic record will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
