IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

The admission process is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency.

Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Their comments will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Language Proficiency Criteria

Candidates may need to submit scores from national eligibility tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. These scores are considered for PhD and PG program eligibility.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with a strong academic record will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
