IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year . Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other equivalent language tests
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
