Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The notification states referees will comment on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Meeting admission requirements may involve submitting scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.
Candidates must also present scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also qualify.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview committee will assess candidates’ overall suitability for the program.
