IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters commenting on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
The final selection for admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
