IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal for foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, will remain open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also a requirement. Applicants will undergo an interview process. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview candidates with strong academic records.
