IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The application window is open until March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals . This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their English language skills. Names of two referees are also required for recommendation letters.
Admission Process
Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Final admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent.
