IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Process
Candidates must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be considered. Applicants also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
