IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language ability.
Academic Qualifications and Tests
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores. English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
