IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students . Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Deadline and Process
The application portal will remain open until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
