The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Applications are for PhD and PG courses.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also name two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills. This information is according to the institute’s official notification.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International standardized test scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Final admission is based on performance in an interview. A committee of faculty members will interview candidates with strong academic records.
