Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a statement of proficiency and recommendations from two referees. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
