IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can submit applications. The application portal is accessible via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Process and Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Candidates are also expected to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview conducted by a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
