IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Prospective students must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International exam scores are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
The final selection will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
