The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement detailing their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
