The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open for admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian citizens, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests for admission. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
In addition, candidates must demonstrate English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
