IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open to international students . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m.
The application portal is available online at international.iitd.ac.in. Students who are not Indian nationals can apply. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement. This statement declares their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in their chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. English speaking and writing skills are also reviewed.
Academic Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores may be required.
The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is another potential requirement. For international applicants, scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can be considered.
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview panel will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
