IIT Delhi opened applications for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal is available atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview.
The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process aims to evaluate candidates’ suitability for advanced study and research.
