IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. Two referees will be required to provide recommendation letters.
Application Process
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE). International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. These include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
