IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students 2026

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Application Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national exams such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
