Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This is done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Admission Requirements
Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Specific standardized test scores may be required.
Required Examinations
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also necessary.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
