The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The online application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- For PhD/PG: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE or GMAT.
English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The interview committee will assess candidates’ suitability for the program.
