IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official information.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Candidates must submit English language proficiency test scores. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
