IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for Indian candidates. International students may submit scores from exams like GRE or GMAT. Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their potential for research and independent thinking.
