IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for international students is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Admissions Overview
The application window is open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for admission in the academic year 2026-27.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
The notification states referees will comment on candidate aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Research potential, independent thinking, and English skills are evaluated.
Eligibility and Testing
Standard Indian entrance exam scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. These apply to both PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English language tests is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
