The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Details
Applications are open on the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters commenting on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific examinations. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Applicants also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant department.
