The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window for the 2026-27 academic year closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This is done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. Recommendations are requested by the official notification.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be considered.
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
