IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026-27

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are accepted from foreign national students for the 2026-27 academic year . The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Admissions Overview

International students, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include India’s Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants might also submit scores from tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Candidates must submit scores from at least one of these tests.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
