IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026-27

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications are being processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Recommendation Letters

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is outlined in the official admissions notification.

Academic Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English Proficiency Tests

Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
