Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-2027 . Applications are submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency must also be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance in interviews. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
