IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are required.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
