Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are being accepted until March 30, 2026 .
Application Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. The application portal is available online at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 PM on the deadline date.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores can also be considered. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
