IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details for International Students

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to the official IIT Delhi notification.

Eligibility and Required Scores

Applicants may need to submit scores from national-level tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students can also use scores from exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is also required. This can be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
