IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27 . Eligible candidates must be non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will provide letters of recommendation.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English proficiency. This feedback is part of the evaluation process.
Standardized test scores may be required. These can include scores from the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also an option.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi selects candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee.
